Amazon Sellers: The FX Margin You’re Paying on EUR and USD Payouts

Amazon allows marketplace sellers to receive payouts in their local currency, but it charges its own volume-based conversion fee, which is generally 1.50% at the starting tier. That’s on top of the exchange rate, which also affects how much you receive on each disbursement. Knowing the true cost can help you plan your FX strategy.

Vigtige pointer

  • When Amazon sellers use Amazon Currency Converter (ACCS), Amazon applies its own fee plus the banking service provider’s FX rate to the payout.
  • Amazon’s rates vary by seller tier, meaning higher-volume sellers get lower rates.
  • It also offers a separate Seller Wallet with additional currency exchange options.
  • We compare Payset’s all-in-one multi-currency account and FX platform, aiming to provide you with greater control over your FX strategy.

Finding the Best FX for Amazon Sellers

Amazon helps you manage sales all over the world — and its ability to convert and settle several foreign currencies in your local currency is a significant feature.

However, currency conversions come at a cost, and if Amazon’s conversion options don’t provide the coverage you need, you may have to use a secondary trading platform. Finding the best FX for Amazon sellers may involve looking for competitive rates and features elsewhere.

Here’s how Amazon pricing works, and how you can maximise the value of your Amazon payouts with a dedicated and cost-effective FX strategy.

How Amazon Payout Currency Conversion Works

If you’re an Amazon seller, you can use Amazon Currency Converter for Sellers (ACCS) to convert more than 20 currencies to your local currency during payouts.

Users receive rates adjusted to their usage. As of August 2026, ACCS rates generally ranged from 1.50% for less than 100,000 USD in trailing 12-month volume to 0.75% for 10 million+ USD. Several intermediate tiers exist, and exceptions exist for other currencies.

Amazon calculates your total cross-currency net proceeds from the past 12 months across your Amazon stores and linked global accounts, recalculated each month.

That means Amazon offers straightforward conversion on payouts but has noticeable costs due to the ACCS fee. Furthermore, FX rates apply on top of the fee.

Where the Amazon Seller FX Margin Sits

The above pricing isn’t the FX rate itself. It’s a fee that’s charged on top of the FX rate, which is determined by Amazon’s bank service provider on the transfer date.

The exchange rate has embedded costs of its own. As Amazon notes, the FX rate users receive is different from search engines and newspapers, which show the interbank rate. Amazon says it has worked with banks to make sure users get competitive rates.

Amazon offers some rate transparency: you can see live FX rates before you execute disbursements, and you can see the actual FX applied to each payment. However, those rates are available to account members and do not appear to be generally advertised.

In other words, Amazon doesn’t describe its ACCS service fee as a margin, but it works in much the same way: it applies a percentage-based fee on top of the FX rate. Looking only at the advertised ACCS fee doesn’t tell you the full cost.

Why This Adds Up Faster Than Most Sellers Realise

FX expenses necessarily add up as you increase your cross-currency sales – you’ll pay more in absolute FX costs as your conversion volume increases.

Even small percentages can quickly add up across multiple transactions. A fee that might not be noticeable on a single transaction could add up to thousands over your annual volume.

This is offset by Amazon’s tiered pricing, which offers lower rates as you convert more. For example, on a 12-month volume of 100,000 USD you’d pay 1.50% eller 1,500 USD in gebyrer.

Scaling up to the next tier: on a 500,000 USD volume, you’d pay 6,250 USD (1.25%) — saving 1,250 USD compared to pricing at the previous tier. Though the savings are considerable, costs still increase with higher volumes and cannot be entirely offset by the tiered rate.

In short: tiered pricing can help you save, but it’s also important to make sure that you’re managing your balance with cost-efficient conversion strategies.

Checking the FX Cost in Your Amazon Payout Statements

Amazon doesn’t appear to charge hidden FX fees, so you can find out how much you’re really paying by checking Amazon Seller Central’s Payments dashboard.

Amazon’s FAQ says the Final Disbursements Amount tooltip shows:

  • The ACCS service fee
  • The fee percentage that you qualify for
  • The actual fee that was collected in your local currency
  • The exchange rate that was applied by the bank service provider

To determine your total conversion costs, review your record of activity. Add up or calculate each element as they appear in individual transactions. Note that you may need to assess exchange rates individually rather than simply adding them together.

Estimating Amazon FX Costs Over One Year

If your Amazon dashboard has too much information to calculate manually, you can also use the publicly listed ACCS fee to estimate your costs based on your overall volume.

For example, if you’re converting 100,000 USD worth of euros or other currencies:

Estimated ACCS cost = 12-Month Cross-Currency Net Proceeds × ACCS Fee

= 100,000 USD × 1.50%

= 1,500 USD

In this example, you would pay at least 1,500 USD in Amazon Currency Converter (ACCS) fees. That’s before considering the cost of the exchange rate from Amazon’s banking service provider, which can be found in your Amazon transaction details.

Need a simpler way to compare it to other options? Use Payset’s FX calculator to preview our fees, or request an estimate based on your last quarter of activity.

Choosing an Alternative to Amazon Currency Conversion

There’s one significant reason you might need an alternative to Amazon Currency Conversion: generally, you can only receive payouts in your region’s local currency.

For example, sellers in the Eurozone can only receive disbursements in EUR, even if they collect USD and other currencies via Amazon. These limitations apply even if your bank supports accounts that hold international currencies.

This limitation can add costs if you have diverse FX needs, as you’ll need to pay for other conversions later on after the funds leave the Amazon seller network.

Amazon does offer a separate tool called the Seller Wallet, which gives eligible sellers greater control over storing and converting proceeds, separate from disbursement. However, it’s limited to eligible sellers in supported marketplaces and currencies, currently with US and EU options.

One cost management strategy is to choose a true multi-currency account like Payset — allowing you to receive, hold, spend, and withdraw numerous currencies in one account.

That means greater control over your balance separate from payouts or disbursements. Convert currencies only when you use them, or spend them in the form you receive without using your local currency, avoiding FX costs on some transfers entirely.
