What is the GBP/USD exchange rate today?
The current GBP/USD mid-market rate reflects the same interbank benchmark you’d see on Reuters or Bloomberg. Payset adds a transparent fee starting at 0.90% above this rate — no hidden markup. As your FX volume grows and crosses a tier threshold, your rate drops automatically, down to 0.09% at Institutional level, with the discounted rate locked in for 30 days from the moment you qualify. What drives the GBP/USD exchange rate?
GBP/USD — known as “Cable” — is one of the most traded currency pairs in the world. The rate is influenced by Bank of England and Federal Reserve policy decisions, UK inflation data, and US employment figures. For UK businesses invoicing US clients, or US companies paying UK suppliers, GBP/USD movements directly affect the cost of every transaction. Payset converts at the live mid-market interbank rate, adding only a transparent fee that reduces automatically as your FX volume grows — no hidden spread, no surprises.
How does Payset's GBP/USD fee compare to my bank?
Most banks clip 2–3% on every GBP/USD conversion, often quoted as “no fees” — invisible on the statement but very real on your P&L. Payset’s base fee is 0.90%, shown transparently before every conversion. As your FX volume grows, your rate drops automatically — down to 0.09% at Institutional level. The difference compounds. Learn more about Payset FX tier pricing and see how much your business could save.
How do Payset's FX tiers work?
Your tier is set by your trailing 90-day FX volume, not a monthly snapshot. This matters: most providers reset your tier at the end of each calendar month, so one slow month sends you back to the highest rate. Payset uses a rolling 90-day window, so normal business fluctuation doesn’t penalise you. The moment your volume crosses a threshold, your discounted rate locks automatically for 30 full days from that date, not until month-end. No application, no negotiation. Tier upgrades apply on the first trade that breaches the next threshold.
What is the difference between mid-market rate and a bank rate?
The mid-market rate is the real exchange rate, the midpoint between global buy and sell prices, the number you see on Reuters or Bloomberg. Banks don’t give you this rate. They quote above or below it and pocket the difference, typically 1.5–3%, with no line item on the statement. Payset always starts from the mid-market interbank rate and adds only a transparent, published spread, visible before every trade, never hidden in the rate itself.
